Vascular treatment
Skin changes and skin surface irregularities, specifically neoplasms or scars, may be eliminated, for
example, via laser therapy that we offer to you at the “Medical Club” clinic.
The procedure involving the use of a specially designed laser system allows for a purposeful and
controlled removal of certain skin layers. Using the-up-to-date computer scanning systems makes it
possible to rapidly and uniformly treat even vast skin areas.
Using laser for removing skin layers, it is possible, in particular:
- To remove wrinkles and lift skin on the forehead, eye lids (“crow’s feet”)),
upper/lower lip (perioral wrinkles) and cheeks;
- To remove scars protruding off the skin level;
- To smooth deep scars after acne (post-acne) and posttraumatic scars;
- To remove other benign skin changes, specifically pigmented spots, nevi (birthmarks), fibromas and
warts.
Not all skin neoplasms may be removed with laser. For the purpose of revealing atypical features, a
preliminary consultation with an oncodermatologist should be arranged.
Performing the procedure
Skin areas to be treated are exposed to ultra-short highly intensive laser pulse predominantly under
local anesthesia. This results in removing a thin superficial skin layer and compressing subcutaneous
tissue. Combination of these two processes leads to a layer-by-layer removal of neoplasms or scars.
Depending on the size of the treated skin area, it is sometimes necessary to additionally use some drugs.
The drugs indicated in such cases in a personal prescription, should be taken strictly according to
doctor’s instructions.
Possible side effects and complications
As with sunburn (erythema), severe reddening and formation of small crusts are observed after treatment.
This is a usual occurrence. The reddening completely resolves during the subsequent 6 months.
In case of allergy to sun light (photodermatosis), the increased reaction to laser treatment manifests
itself in a strong edema and skin reddening, which, however, usually resolve on their own. On a very
sensitive skin the vesicles may appear, subsequently replaced with superficial scarring. Very rarely,
despite a strict adherence to the rules of subsequent treatment, one can observe skin color change
(darkening or whitening) due to pigmentation disorder, mostly temporary or long-lasting sometimes.
Usually, the possibility of a long-term scarring when using this therapeutic method may be excluded.
However, in rare cases visible scars or sensation of skin contraction may retain for long.
Due to laser treatment, such inflammatory skin diseases as acne or herpes may be activated. In case of
having predisposition to these diseases or when vast skin areas are treated, for minimizing the risk of
inflammatory reaction, it is compulsorily necessary to conduct concomitant drug therapy. Regarding this,
we will consult you personally.
Laser therapy as such causes no allergic reactions. If there is hypersensitivity to concomitant therapy
or anesthesia, the itching, sneezing, skin rasps or other light reactions are possible. Severe allergic
reactions associated with vitally important functions of the heart, respiratory and circulatory systems
and kidneys, that require immediate cure, are extremely rare.
Before the procedure
To minimize the risk of pigmentation disorder, avoid excessive UV-irradiation during 4-6 weeks after the
procedure. If sun exposure is inevitable, apply to the treated area sun-protection cream with SPF = 25 or
higher.
After the procedure
Avoid excessive exposure to heat, cold and UV-irradiation.
Do not attend sauna/swimming pool during 5-7 days.
After taking shower, dry the treated areas, making “blotting” movements. In case of crust
formation, do not remove the crusts.
Should any questions arise regarding the procedure, consult your attending doctor and do not undertake
anything without his/her recommendations.
