Forehead rhytidectomy
Forehead rhytidectomy (forehead lifting) is an operation allowing for elimination
wrinkles in the forehead, visually increase forehead length and lift the eyebrows.
There exit lots of method to solve this problem. Each of them has its own pluses and minuses.
Technically, the coronal method is one of simple methods of eyebrow lifting: an incision runs over the
scalp, and the dissected skin is lifted. Since this method visually increases the forehead length and
pushes the hair line posterior, it is ideal for people with a short forehead and is not recommended to
those inclined to alopecia or having a high forehead. Minuses of the coronal lifting are a durable
rehabilitation, a long suture, partial loss of sensitivity and the risk of partial hair loss.
Endoscopic eyebrow lifting is one of the newest and most “democratic” methods
to lift the eyebrows. This operation uses an endoscopic camera and long thin endoscopic instruments that
are introduced through 4-5 small scalp incisions leaving practically no traces after healing. The forehead
skin is carefully dissected, and mimic muscles, which are actually the cause of wrinkles, are transected.
The skin is fixed in a stable position with special fixation threads, this being specifically important
early after the forehead lifting. Moreover, when using endoscopic technique the skin is practically not
removed, and the loss of sensitivity is minimal. Minimal postoperative traces make the operation maximally
suitable to people with a high forehead and anterior scalp baldness.
Temporal or lateral eyebrow lifting is the lifting of eyebrows resulting in smoothing
canthal wrinkles and elevating external eyebrow angles. During this operation incisions are made within
the hairy temporal areas on both sides of the face. Temporal eyebrow lifting especially fits to those with
lowered external eyebrow angles. This lifting can also be performed in combination with endoscopic eyebrow
lifting.
Eyebrow lifting along the hair line is much similar to the coronal eyebrow lifting but
has a number of essential distinctions: an incision runs along the upper forehead on the hair line,
extending several millimeters inside the hair line. The frontal and eyebrow skin is lifted while the
abundant skin is removed. As a rule, this procedure is selected depending on the hair style for those who
do not want to have a high forehead.
Should you decide to undergo a plastic operation the Medical Club surgeons will give you a primary
consultation. After talking to you and giving you the relevant examination, a doctor will set forth his
(her) judgment as to whether it is possible to considerably improve your forehead surgically with high
reliability and minimal risks. Any aesthetic surgery involves a certain trade-off. Our specialists will
clearly define this trade-off for you and will answer all the questions that may arise.
- In the “Medical Club”clinic all operation aimed at facial rejuvenation are performed under
a general anesthesia (narcosis). You will not feel pain and will not be able to remember what was
happening with you during operation.
- The duration of operation will depend on its volume, and an operation itself will last from 40 minutes
to 2 hours.
- Your stay at the clinic will be a 1-2 day long, on the average.
- Immediately after operation a special compressive dressing will be applied to your forehead and will
be replaced every day during 2 days.
- Sutures are removed at 12-14 postoperative day.
- Approximately in 2-3 weeks you will be able to resume your usual life.
- You are not recommended to attend sauna and solarium within a month.
- At an early postoperative period a physician-rehabilitator will make up and conduct your personal
rehabilitation program, which will shorten your recovery period and improve surgical result.
- An ultimate result of operation may be assessed in 1-2 months.
