Augmentation mammoplasty
Augmentation mammoplasty (augmentation or endoprosthetics of mammal glands) is one of the most
common plastic operations in the world. Breast augmentation is performed via using silicone implants
having their own evolution. Modern silicone implants are quite safe. Numerous scientific studies have
proven that the use of silicone implants in the breast augmentation does not increase the risk of
developing oncologic diseases.
Indications to endoprosthetics are:
- Unilateral or bilateral hypoplasia of mammal glands;
- Asymmetry, ptosis or abnormal development of mammal glands;
- Postlactation subinvolution of mammal glands (due to baby feeding);
- Reconstruction of mammal glands following mastectomy or trauma;
- Congenital developmental anomalies of mammal glands;
- Replacement of implants according to medical indications
Contraindications include:
- Inadequate, in surgeon’s opinion, tissue envelope;
- Radiation exposure, ulcers, insufficient blood supply to the healed wound;
- Infectious disease;
- Breast cancer without mastectomy and considerable residues of the local mammal gland tumor after
mastectomy;
- Progressing fibrous cyst
The “Medical Club” clinic uses implants from the tree leading companies: “McGhan",
"MENTOR" and "PolitechSilimed".
In mammal gland endoprosthetics one of the tree approaches may be used:
Periareoral approach with an incision made over the lower areolar pole.
Axillary approach with an incision made in the axillary area. This approach is used more frequently when
placing round implants into the retropectoral space (beneath the muscle).
Submammary approach is the most popular and safe. It enables a space to be formed under visual control
and makes it possible to camouflage the postoperative scar in the natural submammary fold.
Should you make a decision to undergo a plastic surgery the Medical Club specialists will give you a
primary consultation. After talking to you and giving you the relevant examination, a doctor will set
fourth his (her) judgment as to whether it is possible to considerably improve your breasts surgically
with high reliability and minimal risks. A surgical approach (an area where the postoperative scar is
formed) is selected by a surgeon, and is to be agreed upon with a patient. The implantation area
(retromammary, retropectoral or two-planar) will depend on the form of implant and anatomic specificities
of your mammal glands.
Any aesthetic surgery involves a certain trade-off. Our specialists will clearly define this trade-off
for you and will answer all the questions that may arise.
- In the “Medical Club” clinic this operation is performed under a general anesthesia.
- The duration of operation is from 50 minutes to 1.5 hours.
- After the operation a patient stays at the clinic for 1-2 days.
- During 4-6 postoperative weeks you will have to wear special compressive underclothes.
- On the 4th -5th day you may take a shower.
- Sutures are removed on the 10th postoperative day.
- Approximately in 2-3 weeks you will be able to resume your usual life.
- You are not recommended to use air transport within 4-5 weeks.
- An ultimate result of operation may be assessed in 2-3 months.
